The 2022 Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP)<\/strong> crowned its Main Event champion this weekend and Dan Owston<\/strong> is that champion. Owston overcame a massive field of 423 entrants to get his hands on \u00a310,000 of the \u00a352,875 prize pool, a famous APAT gold medal plus a commemorative WCOAP bracelet.<\/p>\n

Owston also banked a partypoker LIVE package<\/strong> for a future event, giving him a free shot at another bumper payday.<\/p>\n

All but two players who navigated their way through to the nine-handed final table walked away with at least four figures for their efforts. An anonymous player busted in ninth for \u00a3800 before Winston Jones<\/strong> saw his tournament end abruptly in an eighth place finish worth \u00a3925.<\/p>\n

Michal Czeszel<\/strong> was the next to fall; his elimination in seventh place came with a \u00a31,100 payout. The final six then became five when Emiel Sennema<\/strong> crashed out and made his way to the Dusk Till Dawn cashier desk to collect $1,400.<\/p>\n

A nice, round \u00a32,000 made its way to the bank account of fifth-place finisher Ryan Kilbey<\/strong> before Adam Keeney<\/strong> (\u00a33,000) and Alu Ayub<\/strong> (\u00a35,000) fell by the wayside and sent the WCOAP Main Event into the heads-up stage.<\/p>\n

Owston locked horns with Simao Manuel Gomes<\/strong> heads-up. The final hand saw a short-stacked Gomes move all-in with and Owston make the call with . The flop kept Owston in front but gave Gomes a gutshot straight draw. The turn was then joined by the river<\/a>, improving Owston to an unnecessary full house and gifting him the WCOAP Main Event title.<\/p>\n
