The online Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP)<\/strong> concluded on June 27 with the crowning of the 8-Max Championship, which served as the online Main Event.<\/p>\n

Some 791 players bought into the 8-Max Championship<\/strong>, ensuring the $75,000 guarantee was beaten by $4,100. The chunky prize pool resulted in a four-figure score for everyone at the final table, with the champion taking home five figues.<\/p>\n

The final table had players from six countries, showing how global the game of poker is. South Americans sat down on fur of the final table’s seats, but two fell by the wayside early on. Brazilian duo Caique De Castro<\/strong> ($1,032) and Andre Oliveira<\/strong> ($1,291) busted to give the remaining players a little more elbow room.<\/p>\n

Two Belgians navigated their way to the final table but they could not quite get the job done. Nicolas Buysens<\/strong> ($1,611) crashed out in seventh, with David Opdebeeck<\/strong> ($2,602) falling in fifth. Popular British grinder Jamie Burland<\/strong> ($2,025) was eliminated between the Belgian pair.<\/p>\n

Fourth place and $3,765 went to Burland’s fellow Brit Kenneth Midgley<\/strong>, before the untimely demise of Manuel Montoya<\/strong> ($5,727) sent the 8-Max Championship into the heads-up stage. Here, Sweden’s Viktor Persson<\/strong> locked horns with Heberto Marchetti<\/strong> of Argentina.<\/p>\n

The one-on-one battle went the Argentinian’s way, and Marchetti turned his $109 investment into an impressive $12,027, leaving Persson to reel in an $8,303 consolation prize.<\/p>\n

APAT WCOAP Heads to Dusk Till Dawn<\/h2>\n

The APAT WCOAP now heads to the home of British poker, Dusk Till Dawn<\/strong> in Nottingham for the action-packed live edition of this ever-popular festival.<\/p>\n

Each event will be well-attended but every APAT member is most looking forward to the \u00a3150 buy-in Main Event<\/strong> that runs from July 1-3.<\/p>\n

Some 11 partypoker players are already guaranteed a min-cash after making it through the online Day 1. Dan Owston<\/strong> made it through with a healthy stack of 1,387,417 after coming out on top of a 70-strong Day 1A.<\/p>\n

Other APAT regulars to look out for on Day 2 include Paul Haycock<\/strong>, Thomas Bacon<\/strong>, Dan Williams<\/strong>, and Tristan Chaplin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
