Canadian superstar Shawn Buchanan<\/strong> can call himself a partypoker Players Championship (PPC) UK<\/strong><\/a> champion after he navigated his way through a 1,204-strong field in the $162 buy-in Opener<\/strong> event. Buchanan turned his initial investment into $26,279 with bounty payments included, giving him plenty of ammunition for the rest of the series.<\/p>\n

Some 178 players made it through to the final day, each guaranteed at least a min-cash from the main prize pool. That min-cash weighed in at $194 but, thanks to the bounty element, none of the nine players who reached the final table walked away with less than $2,814 for their effortd.<\/p>\n

Renato Ribeiro<\/strong> was the ninth-place finisher and recipient of the aforementioned $2,814 prize. Thiago Medeiros<\/strong> and Pablo Fernando<\/strong> joined Ribeiro on the ril, doing so with $3,024 and $4,233 in prize money resepctively.<\/p>\n

The next three eliminated partypoker players all hail from the United Kingdom. Mark Gardner<\/strong>, Julien Loire<\/strong>, and Daniel Morgan<\/strong> each bowed out, and saw prizes of $4,414, $5,565, and $9,546 land in their partypoker accounts.<\/p>\n

Morgan\u2019s exit locked in a five-figure score for the surviving trio of players. Those three became two when Mathis Nehring<\/strong> of Germany ran out of steam and fell in third, a finish good for $10,177. The German\u2019s untimely demise left Buchanan heads-up against Gregor Klun<\/strong> of Slovenia.<\/p>\n

Buchanan was a huge favourite going into heads-up, not least because the Canadian has almost $7 million in live poker tournament winnings<\/strong>. The favourite lived up to the hype and busted Klun in second place, the 12th opponent Buchanen busted. This resigned Klun to a consolation prize worth $16,393, while Buchanan got his hands on $26,279 and the title of champion.<\/p>\n

Other PPC UK Results<\/h2>\n

Five other PPC UK events have crowned their champions. Evert Rosseel<\/strong> of Belgium banked the largest prize from this quintet, scooping a $10,413 prize after coming out on top in the $215 6-Max Knockout<\/strong> event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The PPC UK action continues online at partypoker on April 21 with the $50,000 guaranteed Mix-Max Knockout<\/strong>. April 22 sees the first flight of the Mini Main Event<\/strong>, which is only mini in name because it comes with a chunky $250,000 guaranteed prize pool<\/strong> for a $109 buy-in. Satellites for the Mini Main are available right now with buy-ins of $0.01, $0.55, $2.20,$5.50, and $22.<\/p>\n
