Rossi, of Italy, has a career-largest score of €26,800, his reward for a third-place finish in a €550 buy-in tournament in December 2016. Should Rossi finish third or higher in this €550 buy-in event, he will have a new largest cash.

Although Rossi leads going into Day 3, everyone in the chasing pack has reached this stage on merit, meaning the Italian will not have matters his own way when play resumes. Fellow countryman Federico Petruzzelli is hot on Rossi’s heels with 2,390,000 chips, while China’s Jingchun Yu is a mere 10,000 chips behind Pertuzzelli.

British poker fans have two players in the final 15 that they can attempt to rail to victory. Oliver Hutchins is the best placed of this duo; he has 2,165,000 chips or 36 big blinds. Hutchins cashed in the £150 partypoker Grand Prix at Dusk Till Dawn in January 2022.

Bradley Gudgeon is the other Union Jack-sporting grinder still in the hunt for the title. Gudgeon does not have any cashes on his Hendon Mob page but is guaranteed to see a Maltese flag displayed next to his name after this event. He returns with a 1,090,000 (18 big blinds) stack, which is enough for 12th place when play resumes.

PPC Malta Main Event Remaining Payout

Each of the returning 15 players has locked up €4,500 for their €550 investment.
