The Grand<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s title is in New Zealand for the next week thanks to Joshua McCully<\/strong> taking down the March 13 edition of the $1,050 buy-in event. McCully, a regular in our highest buy-in tournaments, walked away with $35,254 for his impressive victory.<\/p>\n

Some 150 players bought into this week\u2019s The Grand, and the top 223 finishers shared the $150,000 prize pool. Spare a thought for Jan Bednar<\/strong> who fell in 24th place and burst the money bubble. A min-cash weighed in at $2,255 but the prize money increased to $3,867 by the time the nine-handed final table was set.<\/p>\n

Patrick Hyllegaard<\/strong>\u2019s time at the final table was limited because the Danish star was the first player heading for the exits. Aleksejs Meless<\/strong> and Andrea Radichhi<\/strong> joined Hyllegaard on the rail, doing so with $4,693 and $5,548 payouts to keep them company.<\/p>\n

Sixth-place and $6,590 went to David Cowling<\/strong> before Patrick Lauber<\/strong> ran out of steam in fifth, which came with a prize weighing in at $8,272. That was the last four-figure sum awarded by The Grand.<\/p>\n

Mexico-based Lithuanian Gediminas Uselis<\/strong> saw his deep run end in a fourth-place finish worth $11,199, and heads-up was set when Aleksejs Ponakovs<\/strong> crashed out in third for $15,900.<\/p>\n

Ponakovs\u2019 exit left Joao Vieira<\/strong><\/a> heads-up against McCully in a one-on-one battle for the lion\u2019s share of the prize pool. The fight went McCully\u2019s way and he collected $35,254, resigning Vieira to a $23,241 consolation prize.<\/p>\n

Play In The Grand For Only $0.01<\/h2>\n

The Grand commands a $1,050 buy-in, which places it out of the reach of many partypoker players. However, it is possible to win your way into The Grand from a single cent<\/strong> thanks to our centrolls and phased satellites.<\/p>\n
