Some 390 players bought in before late registration slammed shut, but only 59 of those starters managed to progress to Day 2.<\/p>\n<p>There is a familiar name at the top of the chip counts, a player who we are used to seeing leading major tournament. The Hungarian superstar was the only player to finish with more than four million chips.<\/p>\n<p>The chip leader is no stranger to success at partypoker. Nemeth won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/andras-nemeth-wins-the-irish-open-high-roller.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Irish Open High Roller<\/strong><\/a> in April for \u20ac33,688, and more recently secured the title of champion in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/nemeth-wins-the-grand-20-win-wptwoc-main-event-seats.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Grand<\/strong><\/a>, a result that padded his bankroll with $44,152.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steven Van Zadelhoff<\/strong> is another elite player who will be happy with how their WPTWOC Main Event flight went. The Malta-based Dutch grinder finished Day 1A with 3,766,152 chips, enough for second place.<\/p>\n<p>Others who finished the Main Event&#8217;s opening flight with a top 10 stack include <strong>Christopher Frank<\/strong> (3,405,224), <strong>Espen Jorstad<\/strong> (2,840,391), and <strong>Timo Kamphue<\/strong>s (2,757,045). It will set you back $5,300 if you buy in directly, but there are dozens of satellites feeding into this massive tournament.<\/p>\n<p>WPTWOC Main Event satellites are phased, meaning you can <strong>play your way into the weekly final from a mere $0.01<\/strong>. That final, which runs each Sunday, has 50x $5,300 seats guaranteed.<\/p>\n<h2>Alexandru Baron Leads Mini Main Event<\/h2>\n<p>The only thing mini about the <strong>WPTWOC Mini Main Event<\/strong> is its name because the $1,050 buy-in tournament has a whopping $1 million guaranteed prize pool. McConkey sat down with 200,000 chips like the other 651 players who bought in for $109, but he somehow managed to turn those chips into a stack of 5,246,168 by the time only 15% of the field remained!<\/p>\n<p>To put things into perspective, <strong>Claas Stood<\/strong> finished second in chips with 3,431,813, more than two million chips less than McConkey!<\/p>\n<p>The lure of the WPTWOC was strong in this event, even though it is one of the more affordable tournaments.
