Niklas Astedt<\/strong><\/a> is widely regarded as the best No-Limit Hold’em online poker tournament player of all-time. There are very few tournaments that Astedt has not taken down during his long and illustrious career. It appears the legendary Swede is a dab hand at Pot-Limit Omaha<\/strong><\/a>, too, judging by how he just won the WPT #22 Omaha event.<\/p>\n

Astedt was one of 134 players who bought into this tournament for $1,575. Only 20 of those PLO-loving grinders made it through to Day 2. Those 20 stars returned to the partypoker tables on May 25 having locked up at least $3,526 for their efforts.<\/p>\n

Alex Foxen<\/strong> was one of the first casualties of the evening. He crashed out in 18th place for the aforementioned $3,526. Team partypoker’s Joao Simao<\/strong><\/a> joined Foxen on the rail one place later.<\/p>\n

Other luminaries, including Connor Drinan<\/strong><\/a>, Sami Kelopuro<\/strong>, and Joshua Hoesel<\/strong> fell by the wayside before the seven-handed final table. Gavin Cochrane<\/strong>, a PLO specialist and former WPT World Online Championships winner<\/a>, busted in eighth place to set the final table.<\/p>\n

Malta-based star Daniel Rezaei<\/strong> did not last long under the spotlight and he dusted off his stack in seventh place, a finish worth $7,188. Maximilian Lehmanski<\/strong> crashed out in sixth for $8,886 before Brazilian pro Guilherme Decourt<\/strong> ran out of luck and had to make do with the $11,409 fifth-place prize.<\/p>\n

One of two Hungarians at the final table, Benjamin Juhasz<\/strong>, bowed out in fourth for $15,503. Juhasz’s fellow Hungarian, high-stakes guru Andras Nemeth<\/strong>, saw his tournament end abruptly in third. Nemeth banked $22,619 for his efforts.<\/p>\n

Heads-up pitted Astedt against Dante Fernandes<\/strong><\/a>, who is another Brazilian who excels in the Pot-Limit Omaha arena. Astedt and Fernandes struck a deal that left an additional $2,500 for the eventual champion. Astedt got his hands on that extra cash after eliminating the talented Fernandes in second place.<\/p>\n
