He made amends on January 28 when he finished first in the <strong>WPT Montreal 6-Max High Roller<\/strong> event.<\/p>\n<p>The $5,200 buy-in attracted 49 players, a compact field but one brimming with quality. Mateos\u2019 exit in 10th place meant he walked away empty-handed while the surviving nine players locked in at least $10,875.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giuseppe Iadisernia<\/strong> and <strong>Shawn Daniels<\/strong> fell in ninth and eighth-place respectively, setting the seven-handed final table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike Watson<\/strong> ran out of steam and had to make do with a seventh-place finish worth $12,005. British star <strong>Phil Mighall<\/strong> was the next player out of the door, falling in sixth for $13,949. Mighall turns on the style for these major online events having won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/phil-mighall-takes-down-main-event-and-becomes-biggest-wptwoc-event-winner.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>WPTWOC Main Event<\/strong><\/a> in September 2020, a result that saw his bankroll explode with a $1.550.298 prize.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth-place and $16,650 went to <strong>Barry Hutter<\/strong> who was joined on the rail by Finnish pro <strong>Sami Kelopuro<\/strong>, the latter banking $22,489.<\/p>\n<p>Heads-up was set when <strong>Roberto Romanello<\/strong> fell by the wayside in third for $32,436. This left <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/stephen-chidwick-takes-down-two-high-roller-club-events.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Stephen Chidwick<\/strong><\/a> and Moene heads-up for the title and almost a difference I of $31,000 in prize money.<\/p>\n<p>The neutral poker fan would have put money on Chidwick taking the tournament down from this position thanks to his incredible record and the fact he has more than $40 million in career cashes. Rankin is better known in online poker circles as <strong>\u201cDatWillDoPig\u201d<\/strong> and this result will definitely more than do.<\/p>\n<p>Rankin collected a combined prize worth $9,845 for his victory. Some $6,174 of that prize stemmed from the bounties Rankin collected on his way to his impressive victory. Rule Britannia!<\/p>\n<p>Some 1,624 players bought into the Micro Main Event over the course of two starting flights and Clucas outshone them all to become a WPT champion. All 242 players who made it through to Day 2 found themselves in the money place, doubling their initial investment to $65.58.<\/p>\n<p>All but three of the partypoker players who navigated their way to the final table saw a four-figure prize hit their accounts. Canadian duo <strong>Joshua Gravel<\/strong> and <strong>Harry Chaimowiz<\/strong> were the final table\u2019s first casualties. They won $597 and $762 respectively. <strong>Stefan Lehner<\/strong>\u2019s exit in seventh saw him walk away with $961.<\/p>\n<p>The first four-figure haul was reeled in by <strong>Tristan Bergeron<\/strong> whose tournament ended in a sixth-place finish worth $1,235. <strong>Simone Natale<\/strong> ($1,612) and <strong>Samuel Roussy-Majeau<\/strong> ($2,365) followed suit before <strong>Bojan Pavlovic<\/strong> crashed out in third-place for $3,583, leaving only <strong>Josef Peterek<\/strong> and Clucas in the hunt for the title of champion and the $7,686 that came with victory.<\/p>\n<p>Clucas managed to brush aside his Czech opponent to secure the top prize and all the glory. That earlier start time is because Day 2 begins at 20:05 GMT on January 31.<\/p>\n<p>One tournament not to be missed is the <strong>Mike Sexton Classic Mega Sat<\/strong>. This starts at 15:30 GMT on January 31 and has 20x $10,300 seats guaranteed.
