Blackjack - Single Player
(Las Vegas Downtown Blackjack)

Game objective:

With the Las Vegas Downtown Blackjack game one strives to amass cards where the point totals approach 21 whilst being careful not to exceed 21. The worth of a hand is calculated on the basis of the total points of each card that is in the hand. Face cards which include Queens, Kings and Jacks have a value of 10 points. The value of an Ace is 11 or 1. It is valued at 11 as long as that would not make the value of the hand exceed 21. If there is the potential of it raising the value to above 21 then its value is 1.

A soft total is a hand that has an Ace that whose value is 11 and cannot cause the total to exceed 21. A hard total is a hand that has an Ace whose value is 1, since a value of 11 would cause the hand to exceed 21.

In case the player and the house draw, there is no winner or loser and this situation is referred to as a ‘push’. In case the initial two cards to be dealt are any card with 10 points and an Ace, the situation is referred to as a blackjack and means the player automatically winning 1.5 to 1, except of course if the house draws.

The following is additional information on the Las Vegas Downtown Blackjack game:

  • The game rules and the game are similar in both modes of play money’ and ‘real money.’
  • The least amount of money that one can bet is $1 but a stake should not exceed $500 for the initial bet.
  • In the Las Vegas Downtown variety of Blackjack, 8 decks are used with each deck containing fifty two cards.
  • Shuffling of the deck is performed after one tenth of the cards have been used.
  • Once a dealer has drawn a card on soft 17, up to three splits are permitted.
  • A player can deal as many cards as possible to the dealer and vice versa.
  • A player can be dealt as many cards as possible depending on choice or as long as the hand total is not 21 or does not exceed 21.
  • Prior to a player drawing their third card a dealer will check to find out if he is holding a blackjack if he is already in possession of a Jack, 10, Ace, Queen or King as his initial card. If he is in possession of a blackjack he will collect the losing wagers straightaway.

What follows are pointers on how to play:

  • Player chips are usually valued in amounts of $1, $5, $25, $100 and $500.
  • If a player wants to bet say $500, they click on the chip with the $500 denomination. And once a bet has been placed the next thing to do is hit the ‘DEAL’ button.
  • After the dealer has dealt two cards facing upwards to each and every active participant, he deals himself two cards one facing down and the other facing up.
  • One can then opt for any of the choices given such as ‘STAND’, ‘SURRENDER’, ‘HIT’, ‘DOUBLE’ or ‘SPLIT’ but it all depends on how strong the hand is.
  • In case the dealer is in possession of a Jack, 10, Ace, Queen or King as his initial card, he will look to see if he has a blackjack prior to the player drawing their card number three.
  • An 'INSURANCE' choice is offered in case the first card of the dealer is an ‘ACE’.
  • In case the outcome is bust or stand for the player or the dealer the outcomes appear.
  • One can proceed with the single deck blackjack game by clicking the ‘RESET’ button.

While playing the game one has several choices and these are:

Stand: clicking the ‘STAND’ button will retain the present worth of your hand.

Hit: clicking the ‘HIT’ button will enable you to be dealt with another card.

Double: this choice only comes after the initial two cards. Clicking on the ‘DOUBLE’ button will enable the bet you have placed to be increased by two times.

If you lose the bet, you forfeit the entire bet amount, the initial bet and the additional amount placed for the double option.

Split: this is an option in case you are in possession of two cards with similar worth in which case by splitting you share them out to two distinct hands.

How to Play the Split Option:

  • By clicking on the ‘Split’ option, the cards are shared out to 2 distinct hands before dealing an additional card to each of the hands.
  • The next thing to do is clicking on ‘HIT’, ’STAND’ or whatever choice one has.
  • The completion of the first hand activates the second hand automatically.

Insurance: clicking on ‘insurance’ button will offer you protection from a blackjack of a dealer. The cost of insuring is fifty per cent of the bet amount and is on top of the first bet. An extra wager will be laid the moment you seek to insure.

In a situation where the dealer is in possession of a blackjack, the insurance bet pays two to one, and the player loses the first bet. In case the dealer does not draw a blackjack, the player loses the insured wager and the game proceeds for the money that had been bet first. However insurance cannot be provided for a player who has been dealt a blackjack. Also in case the game balance does not reach enough amounts for an additional bet, a player cannot get ‘insured’.

Surrender: the moment the player’s point total is revealed, he or she may decide to quit by clicking the ‘SURRENDER’ button thereby giving up fifty per cent of their wager. This choice is only available on the initial two cards and such a move can only be made before you declare whether you want to double, split, stand, hit etc.

The choice of surrender only comes once the dealer has verified whether he has a blackjack. In case the second card of the dealer is returns a blackjack the whole bet is lost and the game finished.

The Surrender option is offered only after the dealer has checked to see if he has a blackjack. If the dealer’s second card results in a blackjack, your entire wager will be collected by the dealer and the game brought to a stop. However, if the second card of the dealer does not return a blackjack then fifty per cent of the wager is given back to the player.

When it comes to wins and losses, in case the win type is blackjack, the payoff is 1.5 to 1. If the win type is a normal win, the pay off is 1 to 1 while if the win type is a push the pay off is even.

Paytable
Win Type Description Payout
Blackjack A blackjack, or ‘natural’, comprises a total of 21 in your first two cards. A blackjack is therefore an Ace and any 10-point card, with the additional requirement that these be your first two cards. If you split a pair of Aces, for example, and then draw a ten-point card on one of the Aces, this will not count as blackjack, but rather a total of 21. Your blackjack beats any dealer total (including a dealer's regular 21) except a dealer's blackjack. If both you and the dealer have a blackjack, the hand is a tie or ‘push’, and nobody wins or loses. 1.5 : 1
(Normal win) Your total is greater than dealer's, but less than or equal to 21. 1 to 1
Push The totals of both the dealer’s and your hand are the same. Tie, your wager is returned.
Insurance Offered on the dealer's Ace to insure your hand against the dealer receiving a blackjack. It costs 50% of the bet amount, in addition to the initial bet placed by you.

If the dealer gets a blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2:1. You lose the initial bet.

If the dealer does not get a

blackjack, you lose the insured bet, and the game continues for the initial bet amount.
Surrender Allowed only on the first two cards. You can select to discontinue play of your hand for that round and surrender. If the Dealer’s second card results in a Blackjack, your entire wager will be collected by the Dealer.

If the Dealer’s second card does not result in a Blackjack, then one-half of your bet will be returned.

Topping up your PartyAccount

Continue firing up any game by adding more funds to your PartyAccount balance. There are three simple options for reloading. The first is by going to the ‘Cashier’ menu, then look for the ‘Deposit’ button that will then guide you to the next step. If you are in the middle of a game and there is a need to reload, the second alternative is the best one for you. There is a ‘Rebuy’ button that is found on every game screen that will take you to the deposit options. The last one could be done in ‘My Account’ section found in the left portion of the main page. Click on the ‘Real Balance’ button and then follow the instructions.

Remember that each option is different in terms of the length of time the fund transfer takes place and the additional charge that goes with the process. Also take note that you can’t add any funds while you are in the middle of any game so it is advisable to check your party account before starting any game.

Reaching Bet Limits

There is a possibility that during the Game you may encounter the need to reload your PartyAccount balance because it is below the limit of minimum bet allowed. All you have to do is to click the ‘Rebuy’ button that will allow you to buy credits. You can also go to the Cashier menu and choose ‘Deposit’ that will then take you to the next process. There is also a ‘Cashier’ button in every “Buy-in” window that can be found in any screen of an ongoing game. The ‘Real Balance’ in the ‘My Account’ section in the left panel in main lobby can also do the job.

Disconnected or Halted Game

In case the game is suddenly disconnected, don’t worry because the software will automatically finish the game for you. You can check the status by logging back again then look for the 'Gamelogs' button. You can also check the balance of your PartyAccount that reflects the result.

If your game is halted while you are playing in feature round, you can finish it by logging in again. After completing the feature round, you can then continue playing the same game or start another game of your choice.
