Tony G – What a day for poker! Phil Hellmuth you have made the WSOP explode!

Posted by Tony G in Featured, Popular, Tony G, World Series of Poker on June 11, 2012

I am shocked, shocked, shocked! Hellmuth wins his 12th bracelet – a man known more for ‘going out on the razz’ these days wins one at razz. As Phil would say, him winning a bracelet is worth 50 times what it is for anybody else so there’s $10 million in the bank – he is set up for life and has his entry for One Drop! I know he will celebrate it graciously, I am simply writing this to make sure the poker community know about his achievement otherwise word will not get out.

Don’t be shy about your achievement Phil – celebrate it with the world would you?

The game needs him

In all seriousness I would like to congratulate Hellmuth, I have always said the game needs him and the game certainly needs him winning a 12th bracelet. For every bracelet that Phil wins he matures a year – moving up from the mental age of an 11-year-old to a 12-year-old is a truly significant step (what’s he going to be like if he gets to 18 bracelets, will Devilfish jump him?).

At 12-years-old you get to master two wheels on the bike and certainly shouldn’t need stabilizers. Now Phil, I just hope this bracelet win gets you the sponsorship deal you truly deserve. Surely you can now ask for half of any major global corporation in exchange for your services?

Well done Phil!

I’m shocked but well done Phil. I was wrong to say you weren’t qualified enough to be my dog walker. Zasko has a new baby and he is called Louis baby!

Frankendonker? Not anymore!

The other huge news today is Andy Frankenberger beating Ivey heads-up for a bracelet. Despite an explosive winning run and picking up a WPT Player of the Year title it always seemed that other professionals poured scorn on Andy’s game. Beating Ivey heads-up is one in the face for them… and a half! Andy has done a great thing for the businessman like me who turn to poker. I’m sure the likes of Luke ‘FullFlush’ Schwartz will be choking on their 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 4 sausages, 2 tomatoes and 4 rounds of toast at breakfast this morning! ‘Frankendonker’ has come back and bit you harder on the ass than Zasko bites unauthorised visitors to TonyResort. Andy is a poker ginger ninja and will win enough to buy himself another place in the Hamptons I am sure! Where does Schwartz go from here? He continues down the path of becoming the young David Benyamine.

As for me though…

These two results are very exciting for poker and give me great hope for the future. This combined with the upcoming $1 million for One Drop organised by Guy Laliberté have created a massive buzz. Where am I you may ask? As head of the Lithuanian basketball team I am head down and preparing for the London 2012 Olympics. I have always intended to play One Drop but I am supposed to be in Venezuela between the 29th June – 3rd July with the team. We’ll just have to wait and see.
