Mad Marvin – Greetings to my grandmother from this years WSOP 2012 Main Event in Las Vegas!

Posted by Marvin Rettenmaier in Featured, Marvin Rettenmaier, Popular, World Series of Poker on July 11, 2012

The biggest tournament to take place in years – the main event of the WSOP 2012 – has begun. Last year there was a cool $8.6 million up for grabs and it was my fellow German Pius Heinz who won it. I came in 266th. Not bad considering there were 6,800 players. I want to do better this year though – because I am better this year. I’ve been really happy with my performance in the last few tournaments and have come away with five cashes. I’m playing well and I’ll soon be on top of my game.

Chip Hunting

The first few days of the tournament is all about gathering chips. Then I’ll just have to see what I can do. To be honest, I think I’ve been pretty far out in front in the games in these fields, but I have to remain realistic. After all, there are 6,800 players to beat here. But then again it’s important to be confident about your chances of winning. And my chances here are good.

I really hope Pius does well again this year. As for me, I really hope I win. Oh yes, and before I forget − many happy returns to my grandmother! She’s going to turn 80 this coming week. A big hello to you, Gran!

Bowling with the PartyPoker and Mike Sexton

So what else is going on? The day before yesterday I went bowling with the PartyPoker qualifiers and Mike Sexton. It was one of my few evenings off here. In the last eight weeks, I’ve only been partying once. Otherwise I’ve just been playing poker. Sounds stressful and I guess it was to a certain extent. But it’s not like I have to play – I play because I want to.

That’s all for now though, folks. Wish me luck for the main event!
Marvin
