Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier on home-field advantage at WPT Amneville

Posted by Tatjana Pasalic in WPT Amneville on November 3, 2010

After a bit of a rough start and ending up in Germany instead of France – happens when you do not use GPS driving from Luxembourg – I got to the venue. WPT Amneville kicked off and it was a great start.

Browsing trough the tables, I saw the familiar hairdo – only two people can pull of bleached hair – Chris Olaafson and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

And, since ElkY’s hometown is only a few minutes away, he decided to register and go for another WPT title.

For all of you that do not remember – ElkY took down WPT Festa al Lago in 2008, got 1.4 million USD and became just the third person, along with Roland De Wolfe and Gavin Griffin  to win both the WPT and EPT titles. Recently, another player joined the elite bunch, it was Jake Cody with EPT Deauville and WPT London.

Practicing for the big StarCraft tournament

It’s hard to keep up with all of these results, but it is even harder to be ElkY. Being a poker ninja, he missed out on practicing for the big tournament in StarCraft, a game that once took him all the way to Korea. He learned Korean, mastered StarCraft, met a nice girl…and then crushed the poker tables.

‘When are we gonna play with the tigers?’ – he asked me before the interview since we talked about going to Africa together during WSOPE. We have a little surprise going on, so stay tuned if you are interested, but before that, find out what Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier thinks about WPT Amneville, what his expectations are and why he failed in the latest Starcraft tournament he played.
