British Airways – The world’s favour...

This afternoon more of the players have been arriving to check in and pick up their goodie bags. We had one couple from South Africa who were combining their trip with their wedding on the 9th of July. We certainly wish them the best of luck for the main event and also for their married life together. We also met Norwegian player, Petter and his three friends, Kim Andre, Martin and Ove...

The players home for the next week – The Monte Carlo Hotel Well, rather disappointingly, Andreas played for several hours and ended up breaking even. That’s good because at least the rest of us don’t have to lend him any cash. However it does mean that Mario will have to wait for the Ferrari he was looking at last night in the Ferrari Shop at The Wynn. Today the PartyPoker...

By Ian Frazer Feeling good today and up for the $1,500 PLO hi-lo split. I want to get over to the Rio early as I have learned that the plums seem to be most eager players to take their seats and I don’t want to miss out on a valuable 10mins chat with them, this can save you 2 hours on the felt. So I am there in seat 4 and already in their seats are 1, 2 and 3, so we get chatting and...

WSOP Blog 2009 Day 4 Well so far so good, I am up $30k and eager to play. There are 2 tourneys today, both $2,500 but the afternoon one is six-handed so I opt for that. I bike ride for 1hr 20 mins in the gym, then lounge around the pool before heading off to the Rio at 4.30pm. Like a doughnut I find out this tourney is Limit! OMG I hate the game, so I decide to get a refund and play...

WSOP Blog 2009 Day 3 Wow! Up early this morning, let’s get the gym out the way first. On the bike doing a couple of 30 mins programmes (the gym here, by the way, is absolutely fantastic) and Roland De Wolfe comes in. “Just gonna bang out a quick mile on running machine” he says. He’s so funny, I love him, but he runs like a heavy weight boxer. We arrange to meet in 2...

Farewell “Chip” Reese, poker...

Posted by Stefan Dicembre in General on December 5, 2007 | No Comments
by Simon Young There are good poker players, great players – and legendary players. The latter group does not contain that many names, and sadly today there is one less after the death of David “Chip” Reese. He was 56. A quite brilliant cash game player, Reese was also a genius at the tournament tables, picking up three WSOP bracelets, including the coveted 2006...
