Tomorrow is my official birthday but I’ve been really lucky to have great friends and lovely people around me who let me stretch the occasion out to more than just the actual day :)
Some very good friends of mine are going to be out of the country for the actual day so we had an early party 2 weeks ago with them. It was a really lovely evening with lots of great wine and conversation and presents.
No matter how old I get, opening presents always makes me feel like an excited little kid. I could be opening a $2 matchbox car or something more substantial but the excitement is always the same.
I’ve already had my party so tomorrow is going to be a quieter day. I’m going to get pampered with a trip to the spa and salon and then have a great dinner out with my favourite person. Perfect! I’ve been suffering with quite a bad back the past few weeks as well as being floored by the flu so a quiet dinner seems like the perfect celebration to me.
We had a couple of friends visiting us in Santa Barbara over the weekend for Fiesta and between that and volunteering at the Rugby Association charity taco stand (raising money for the Special Olympics) we’re just getting back to normal and picking the last few pieces of confetti out of the carpet.
There is a tradition in SB during Fiesta where you can buy eggs full of confetti to throw at people or smash on their heads and wow, that confetti gets EVERYWHERE. I’m not sure how our dog managed to get covered with it but she’s certainly been tracking it around the house.
So Happy Birthday to me and a fantastic week to the rest of you! :)
