My moving day is inching ever closer and I’m no closer to figuring out the ‘where‘ portion of it all. I’m actually no closer to moving either as I’ve yet to actually go and get boxes or organise anything. Is it still considered ‘being in denial’ if you’re embracing the denial? I’ve got both arms wrapped tightly around my denial and...
The Santa Barbara Fair and Expo was in town recently and damn, do I love me some Carnival hijinx!
I was lucky enough to check out this once-a-year event with some friends of mine; a really fantastic couple and their 3 small kids.
I kind of think that carnivals need to be seen through the eyes of overly excited, sugar-high toddlers to really be done right. So yeah, we did it right.
After...
Back home
After a few weeks on the road, it is great to get back home to Santa Barbara. I ended up sitting next to a famous American TV show host on the plane from Austria to LAX, although given my atrocious lack of knowledge about American pop culture due to the many years I spent living in England, I blithely assumed he was in a band or something. I could tell that he was famous...
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks here in Vienna and it’s not over yet! The WPT main event is going on in the building, the Premier League is complete and now The PartyPoker Big Game is underway and already there’s been loads of action.
Another 48hrs
It’s a 48 hour cash game and I’m sharing the hosting duties with the lovely Michelle Orpe who the poker...
Today is my last day in Santa Barbara for a month or more, so I’ve been running around like crazy trying to finalise things for this next work trip. I’m stoked to go to Montreal tomorrow for the Montreal Party Poker Classic event which is in aid of the Jodi Lazarus Fund for Hereditary Breast Cancer. I’ve never been to Quebec so I’m really excited to see a new...
I’m back in France again after a short rest in England after playing at the Euro Finals of Poker in Paris. In my last blog I told you about the small cash I had in the 1k event. Over the next couple of days, I played their 2k event but frustratingly busted in 25th place (with only 20 getting paid).
I really enjoyed playing at the Aviation Club. It’s a singular place. I...
I’ve been playing poker at the Aviation Club in Paris for the last week.
I busted out on day 2 of the 1k Silver EFOP event in 17th or 18th place which was in the money and tantalisingly close to the bigger payouts.
It was a tough event in some respects. I’m not exactly well known for being a night owl so any poker tournament that doesn’t even start until 8pm is going...

I think I may have had one too many pints of Guinness in Dublin at the WPT because I’ve really been paying for it this week. I spent some time in England, sniffly and croaky-throated, trying desperately to keep this cold/flu/laryngitis/ebola hybrid at bay, but it seems to have caught up with me anyway.
I think that it was probably worth it though because Ireland was so much fun....
